With coffee, Wi-Fi and board games, a newly redesigned India Post office at Acharya Institute campus blends postal services with a modern café-like experience for young users.

India Post has taken a bold step to reimagine its public spaces with the launch of Karnataka’s first Gen Z-themed post office in Bengaluru. The newly revamped facility has opened on the Acharya Institute campus, offering a contemporary, youth-friendly setting that moves far beyond the traditional image of a post office.

Located at Achit Nagar in Soladevanahalli, off Hesaraghatta Road, the redesigned post office resembles a modern work café. Visitors can access free Wi-Fi, a coffee machine, board games, charging points and a book booth, all provided at no cost. The idea is to create a welcoming space where people, especially students, feel comfortable spending time while accessing postal services.

The interiors were conceptualised and executed by students of the Acharya School of Design. A five-member student team, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in visual arts (interior and spatial design), worked for two weeks to transform the space. Their goal was to reflect the spirit of Bengaluru while maintaining the identity of India Post.

The design prominently features India Post’s signature red-and-white colour palette, combined with visual elements that showcase the history and legacy of the postal department. At the same time, the layout and furniture follow a clean, modern style similar to co-working cafés popular among younger users.

This Bengaluru facility is part of a larger national initiative by India Post to modernise select post offices. The first Gen Z-themed post office was launched at IIT Delhi last month. Since then, five similar post offices have already opened in other states, and 46 more redesigned post offices are currently in the planning stage across the country.
