Woman alleges unsafe skin treatment, false certification claims and threats after reacting to an Instagram reel-promoted cosmetic service in Nagarabhavi.
A social media reel promising instant skin care results has allegedly led to serious facial damage for a 27-year-old woman in Bengaluru. The incident has raised concerns over unverified cosmetic services being promoted on platforms like Instagram.
According to the complaint, the woman came across an Instagram reel while scrolling through videos related to skin care, pimple marks and other facial issues. The video claimed to offer a “one-time solution” with “100% guaranteed results.” The Instagram profile promoting the service described the operator as a “certified cosmetologist,” which convinced the woman to seek treatment.
Trusting the claims made online, the woman visited a beauty clinic named Glow Up Beauty Skin Care located near Nagarabhavi. She alleged that at the clinic, the staff did not properly examine or even touch her skin before proceeding with a retinol-based treatment. She was also given products made by the clinic and instructed to use them regularly.

The woman paid ₹17,000 for the treatment. However, after returning home, she began experiencing severe itching, increased pimples and visible swelling on her face. Her skin condition worsened rapidly, causing distress and concern.
When the woman reportedly approached the clinic to question the treatment and its effects, she alleged that she was threatened instead of being offered help. The complaint states that Chaitanya, associated with the clinic, along with her husband Shiva, allegedly intimidated and threatened the woman.
Following the incident, the woman approached the Annapoorneshwari Nagar Police Station, where an FIR has been registered in connection with the case. Police are now investigating the allegations related to unsafe cosmetic treatment, misleading claims on social media and criminal intimidation.
