Incident occurred during an operation to clear illegally settled migrants in Electronic City’s Hulimangala area; Hebbagodi police begin detailed investigation.

Bengaluru police have arrested a woman for allegedly raising the slogan “Jai Bangla” during an official eviction drive in the city. The incident took place in Hulimangala, Electronic City, where authorities were carrying out an operation to clear illegally settled migrants from the area.

According to police sources, the woman, identified as Sharbanu Khatan, shouted the slogan while officials were in the process of removing unauthorised occupants. Her action immediately drew attention at the site, prompting the police to intervene.

Following the incident, the Hebbagodi Police Station registered a case and took the woman into custody. She has since been formally arrested and is currently being intensively questioned by the police.

Investigators are now examining several critical aspects related to the case. Police are trying to establish her place of origin, the intent behind raising the slogan, and whether the act was spontaneous or influenced by others. Officials are also probing if there is any larger group or external involvement behind the incident.

Police sources said the questioning is ongoing, and further action will depend on the findings of the investigation. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of additional legal steps if new details emerge during the inquiry.
