A shocking act of animal cruelty in Bengaluru’s JP Nagar has triggered public outrage after CCTV footage showed a man brutally killing a young puppy. Police have launched a search for the accused following a formal complaint.
A disturbing incident of extreme animal cruelty has come to light in Bengaluru’s JP Nagar area, where a young puppy was allegedly assaulted and killed, sparking widespread outrage among residents and animal welfare groups.
According to animal welfare volunteers, CCTV footage from the locality shows a man violently smashing the puppy against a wall and then pinning it to the ground, leading to its death. The visuals, which surfaced on social media, have deeply shocked the public and prompted swift action from activists.

A formal complaint has been filed with the Puttenahalli police by South Bengaluru Care, an animal welfare organisation. Based on the complaint and preliminary evidence, the police have identified the accused as Nepal Kiran and have launched a search operation to trace him.
Volunteers said the incident came to light early on January 9 after a local dog feeder shared disturbing videos in a WhatsApp group dedicated to animal welfare. The feeder had been regularly feeding and caring for a litter of eight puppies in the area. After the incident, the body of one puppy was found, while the remaining puppies from the litter are currently missing, raising further concern.
Police sources stated that the accused was working as a security guard at a restaurant in JP Nagar and was staying at his brother’s rented house nearby. Following the incident, he is believed to have fled and is currently absconding.
Animal welfare activists have demanded strict legal action, calling the incident a grave case of cruelty that must be dealt with firmly to prevent similar acts in the future. The police have assured that efforts are underway to locate and arrest the accused at the earliest.
