At the inauguration of the NewsFirst ‘EV Ready’ Expo in Bengaluru, TVS Motor Company CEO K.N. Radhakrishnan highlighted Karnataka’s strong EV growth, India’s rising manufacturing strength, and the sector’s growing contribution to GDP.
Bengaluru: Bengaluru, widely known as India’s technology hub and the country’s Silicon Valley, is also emerging as a strong leader in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. Highlighting this progress, TVS Motor Company CEO and Director K.N. Radhakrishnan said that Karnataka currently has 1.70 lakh registered electric vehicles, placing the state third in the country in EV sales.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the grand ‘EV Ready’ Expo organised by NewsFirst at Tripura Vasini, Palace Grounds, Bengaluru. The event was formally launched by Union Minister for Heavy Industries H.D. Kumaraswamy, who inaugurated the expo by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Addressing the gathering, Radhakrishnan said the expo reflects the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat, showcasing India’s growing strength in manufacturing and innovation. He pointed out that the country is steadily reducing its dependence on crude oil imports and is transforming into a major global manufacturing powerhouse.
Sharing key industry insights, he said the automobile sector contributes nearly 7 percent to India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while the supply chain ecosystem plays a vital role in sustaining this growth. He further noted that electric vehicles now account for 8 percent of all new vehicle registrations in the country this year, underlining the rapid shift towards clean mobility.
Speaking about TVS Motor Company’s strong association with Karnataka, Radhakrishnan said the company’s manufacturing facility is located in Mysuru, with another major unit in Hosur, near the Karnataka border. He also revealed that nearly 30 percent of TVS’s total revenue comes from exports, highlighting the company’s growing global footprint.
During the event, Radhakrishnan expressed his gratitude to Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy for visiting the expo and supporting the EV industry.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by several prominent leaders from the industry and government, including Ministry of Heavy Industries Additional Secretary Dr. Hanif Qureshi, Mahindra Last Mile Mobility CEO Suman Mishra, and Kinetic Green Energy CEO Sulajja Firodia Motwani, among others.
The ‘EV Ready’ Expo by NewsFirst is aimed at accelerating awareness, adoption, and innovation in electric mobility, reinforcing Karnataka’s position as a key driver of India’s EV transformation.
