Karnataka forms Anti-Narcotic Task Force to tackle Bengaluru’s drug menace

To tackle the growing drug menace in Bengaluru, the Karnataka govt has formed an Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) led by senior police officials, while also renaming 43 CEN stations as Cyber Crime police stations to enhance focus on IT and cyber crimes.

State government appoints new ANTF under top police officials to intensify the fight against drug crimes and streamline cyber policing in Bengaluru.

In a significant step to curb the growing drug problem in Bengaluru, the Karnataka government has constituted a dedicated Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF). The official order, issued on August 1, outlines the formation of the task force, which will be led by DG & IGP MA Saleem and will report directly to DGP, Cyber Command Pronab Mohanty.

The ANTF will include 4 Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs), 2 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), 2 Inspectors, 4 Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs), and a total of 56 police personnel.

The move is aimed at providing a focused and well-structured response to the increasing drug-related cases in the city.In a parallel development, the state has also renamed all 43 Cyber, Economic & Narcotics (CEN) stations as Cyber Crime police stations. These stations will now handle cases under the Information Technology (IT) Act and relevant Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections concerning cyber crimes.
