The Minister clarified that the videos were old and reportedly filmed in 2023, but a detailed probe has been ordered to ensure accountability. The government has directed the committee to inspect all prisons across the state and submit a comprehensive report within a month.
The inquiry will be led by Hithendra, with Amaranath, Sandeep Patil, Rishanth, and Amaranath Reddy serving as key members. The panel will examine jail management practices, possible lapses by authorities, and the authenticity of the viral footage.
In immediate administrative action, Chief Superintendent K. Suresh has been transferred, while officers Maggery and Ashok Bajanthri have been suspended pending investigation. To strengthen the management of Parappana Agrahara Jail, the government has also appointed an IPS officer to oversee its operations.
The Home Minister assured that further action will be taken once the committee’s report is submitted, emphasizing that the government will not tolerate misconduct or preferential treatment within the prison system.
