Police probe emotional harassment angle after 39-year-old Vishnu CP from Kerala dies by suicide at his Hulimavu flat; two women named in abetment case.

A 39-year-old man from Kerala, identified as Vishnu CP, was found dead at his rented apartment in Hulimavu, East Bengaluru, on November 7. Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against two women, Surya Kumari and Jyothi, both 38, after his brother, Jishnu CP, alleged that they repeatedly harassed and argued with Vishnu, driving him to take his life.

According to investigators, Vishnu lived with the two women in a three-bedroom apartment in Elenahalli, which they had rented last year. All three hailed from Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, and were schoolmates. Vishnu was divorced, Surya was separated from her husband, and Jyothi was single.

Police said Vishnu had known Surya Kumari for about ten years and met Jyothi in 2021. The trio had shifted to Bengaluru four years ago to work and share accommodation. However, tensions surfaced a few months ago when Jyothi accused Vishnu and Surya of being in a relationship. This led to frequent disputes, following which Jyothi relocated to Dehradun for a new job.

On the night of November 6, Vishnu and Surya reportedly had a heated argument. Vishnu later called Jyothi, asking her to return to Bengaluru. When she refused, he allegedly sent her a message threatening to end his life. Police said Jyothi replied telling him to “go ahead.” Moments later, Vishnu locked himself in the bathroom and was later found dead by hanging.

Investigators are now questioning Surya Kumari, who remains in Bengaluru, while efforts are on to contact Jyothi in Dehradun, whose phone has been switched off. Police are examining call records and text exchanges as part of the ongoing probe.
