Transport corporation asks employees to stay away from January 29 protest, cancels leave, orders officials to ensure uninterrupted bus services across Karnataka.
The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has issued a strong directive to its employees ahead of the ‘Bengaluru Chalo’ protest scheduled for Thursday, January 29, 2026. The protest has been called by the Joint Action Committee of transport employees, demanding pending wage revisions and a new pay agreement.
In a clear warning, KSRTC has instructed all transport workers not to participate in the protest or support any form of strike. The management has stated that employees must report for duty without fail and that any absence on the day of the protest will attract strict action under the “no work, no pay” rule.
According to official instructions, if employees fail to attend duty on January 29 without valid and unavoidable reasons, their wages will be deducted. KSRTC has also made it clear that no employee should engage in activities that disrupt public transport services.

The Joint Action Committee has called for the ‘Bengaluru Chalo’ protest to press for the clearance of 38 months of pending wage revision arrears from January 1, 2020, to February 28, 2023. Additionally, the committee is demanding a new four-year wage agreement starting from January 1, 2024.
In response, KSRTC Managing Director Akram Pasha has directed senior officials of all transport corporations to take precautionary measures to ensure that passengers do not face inconvenience. Authorities have been instructed to closely monitor operations and guarantee that bus services function normally across the state.
As part of these measures, officials have been asked not to approve any leave applications on January 29, except in unavoidable circumstances. In case of staff shortages, officers have been authorised to cancel weekly holidays of employees and deploy them for duty to maintain services.
KSRTC has specifically ordered that bus operations on January 29, 2026, must not be affected under any circumstances. The management has reiterated that public interest and uninterrupted transport services remain its top priority.
