Bengaluru saw light rain Saturday with trace showers at city, HAL & KIA. IMD forecasts cloudy skies, fog Sunday; cold wave in north Karnataka

Bengaluru experienced light showers in select areas on Saturday afternoon, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) reporting trace rainfall at its three key observatories—Bengaluru city, HAL airport, and Kempegowda International Airport (KIA). Trace rainfall refers to precipitation between 0.01 cm and 0.49 cm.

Alongside the showers, temperatures across the city showed notable variation. At KIA, located in north Bengaluru, the minimum temperature was recorded at 14.1°C on Thursday morning, slightly below normal by 0.3°C. The maximum temperature stood at 23.7°C in the evening, marking a drop of nearly 3.9°C. HAL airport in the east reported a minimum of 16.7°C, which was 1.6°C above normal, while its maximum of 24.4°C reflected a decline of 2°C. Meanwhile, the central city observatory logged a minimum of 17.2°C, 1.2°C higher than usual, and a maximum of 23.7°C, down by 4.1°C.

The IMD has predicted partly cloudy conditions for Sunday, with fog or mist likely in some pockets during the early morning hours. Daytime temperatures are expected to hover around 26°C, while the minimum may settle near 16°C.

Beyond Bengaluru, colder weather is forecast for northern districts of Karnataka. Bidar, Kalaburagi, Vijayapura, and Dharwad are likely to experience cold wave conditions, according to the IMD.

With the city’s temperatures dipping and light rainfall recorded, residents can expect a cool and misty start to the week, while northern Karnataka braces for harsher winter conditions.
