Ex-RCB player Swastik Chikara faces backlash over leaked chats with women; no formal charges yet, but his career prospects look clouded
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) camp has once again found itself in the spotlight for reasons off the field. While pacer Yash Dayal from Uttar Pradesh is already facing serious charges in two ongoing rape cases, another former RCB and Uttar Pradesh player has now landed in controversy.
Swastik Chikara, who represented Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket and was part of the RCB squad last season, has become the subject of heated debate on social media. Not for his performances on the pitch, but for leaked private chats that have gone viral. Screenshots allegedly showing Chikara engaging in flirtatious and lewd conversations with several young women have circulated widely, drawing sharp criticism from fans. Some have condemned his behavior, while others argue that such matters fall within the realm of personal privacy.
Chikara was once seen as a promising prospect for RCB. Mentor Dinesh Karthik had even described him as an “uncut diamond,” and his close association with Virat Kohli earned him the tag of being a “Kohli disciple.” Expectations were high that he would be retained for the upcoming season, especially after his consistent presence around Kohli. However, RCB surprised many by releasing him ahead of the mega auction. Even more shocking was the fact that he did not attract a single bid, not even at the base price, during the mini auction.

Reports suggest that the leaked chats may have played a role in RCB’s decision. Sources indicate dissatisfaction within the management regarding Chikara’s off-field conduct, which allegedly influenced their choice not to retain or re-sign him.
Despite the uproar, it is important to note that no formal allegations have been made by any of the women involved. Chikara himself has remained silent on the matter, neither confirming nor denying the authenticity of the chats. For now, the controversy remains a social media storm rather than a legal issue. Unless concrete accusations surface, the matter may fade away in time.
Still, the episode has cast a shadow over Chikara’s budding career, raising questions about discipline, professionalism, and the fine line between personal choices and public scrutiny in modern cricket.
