Angered by rejection, accused planned to torch house but finally burnt vehicles; three arrested by Chandra Layout police
A disturbing incident of violent revenge following rejection in a love affair has been reported from Bengaluru’s Chandra Layout police station limits, where a man allegedly set his former girlfriend’s scooter on fire after she refused to continue the relationship. The accused, identified as Girish, has been arrested along with two others, and a detailed investigation is underway.
Police said the young man and woman had been in a relationship for several years, but due to personal reasons, they had drifted apart recently. Even after the breakup, Girish allegedly continued to follow and harass the woman, who repeatedly avoided him. About a week ago, Girish reportedly stopped her scooter on the road, created a scene, and threatened her, after she clearly told him to stay away.

Enraged by her rejection, Girish allegedly warned that he would set her scooter on fire. Subsequently, he tracked down her residence, brought two bottles of petrol from a fuel station, and initially planned to torch her house. However, at the last moment, he changed his mind and decided to target the vehicles instead.
Late at night, Girish allegedly poured petrol and set fire to the woman’s scooter, which was parked outside her house. In the incident, her scooter and her brother’s motorcycle were completely gutted. After setting the vehicles ablaze, the accused knocked on the house door and fled from the spot, police said.
A case was registered at the Chandra Layout Police Station, following which Girish and two others were arrested. Police confirmed that both vehicles were severely damaged, but no injuries were reported. Officials are now probing whether others were involved in planning or executing the act.
