Major cleanliness drive covers 15 key roads across Bengaluru ahead of Republic Day

Bengaluru Central City Corporation conducts large-scale sanitation work across six constituencies, while Manekshaw Parade Ground preparations begin for Republic Day celebrations.

The Bengaluru Central City Corporation carried out an extensive cleanliness drive on Sunday, covering 15 major roads within its limits. The drive was conducted across six Assembly constituencies and was aimed at improving road hygiene, public safety, and overall civic appearance, according to Commissioner Rajendra Cholan.

In the CV Raman Nagar constituency, sanitation work was undertaken in wards 114 and 80. The drive covered Channasandra Main Road, Indiranagar 6th Main Road, 80 Feet Road, 12th Main Road, and Kasturinagar 2nd Main Road. Cleaning activities included removal of waste, sweeping, and clearing of roadside debris.

In Chickpet constituency, ward 119 saw cleaning operations on NR Road, Motinagar, and nearby localities. Similarly, in Shanthinagar constituency, ward 111 was covered, with work carried out on Mother Teresa Road, MG Road, and adjoining streets.

The Gandhinagar constituency was also included in the drive. In ward 120, sanitation teams cleaned the stretch from Shanthala Silk Signal to Cottonpet via Police Road. In Chamarajpet constituency, cleaning work was taken up on Chalavadi Palya Main Road and within the Balekai Mandi premises.

In Shivajinagar constituency, Church Road, MM Road, and surrounding areas were thoroughly cleaned as part of the initiative.

Apart from regular sanitation, unauthorised flexes and banners were removed from all identified locations. The Forest Department joined the effort by clearing dry branches and twigs from Krishna Rao Park and other areas to improve safety and cleanliness.

The drive saw the participation of engineers, supervisors, gangmen, and pourakarmikas, ensuring coordinated execution across all zones.

Separately, Chief Engineer Suguna conducted a survey of the Manekshaw Parade Ground ahead of Republic Day celebrations. She stated that preparations were underway, including levelling the ground using rollers and sprinkling water to control dust, to ensure the venue is ready for the national event.
