Ahead of Sarvodaya Day, the Greater Bengaluru Authority announces a complete ban on meat sales in the city, affecting chicken, mutton, and fish vendors.

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has announced a complete ban on the sale of meat, including chicken, mutton, and fish, in the city on January 30. The restriction coincides with the observance of Sarvodaya Day, and authorities have issued official circulars notifying vendors and the public about the ban.

The ban will apply throughout the city on the specified date, which falls on a Saturday this year. All meat and fish markets, including local vendors and shops, will be required to suspend their operations for the day. Residents are being advised to make alternate arrangements if they plan to purchase non-vegetarian food.

The GBA clarified that the measure is being implemented as part of city-wide observances for Sarvodaya Day, a day dedicated to social welfare and reflection. This temporary suspension is intended to ensure that celebrations and rituals associated with the day are respected.

Circulars detailing the ban have been sent to all market associations and meat vendors. The public has been informed to avoid inconvenience, and authorities have promised strict monitoring to ensure compliance across Bengaluru.

Non-vegetarian food enthusiasts are advised to plan their purchases in advance or consider alternatives, as the ban will remain in effect for the full day on January 30.
