Anticipating protests and possible damage to property, BMRCL has approached police stations across Bengaluru seeking heightened security at Metro stations from February 9 to 11.
Bengaluru Metro operator BMRCL has approached the police seeking security arrangements at Metro stations following the implementation of the revised fare structure, amid concerns over protests and possible disturbances.
Officials said that political parties and various organisations may stage demonstrations at Metro stations opposing the fare hike, which could disrupt services and damage public property. In view of this, BMRCL has requested police deployment at sensitive locations to ensure passenger safety and safeguard Metro assets.

A formal complaint has been submitted to the Shankarpuram Police Station, seeking security cover at the National College Metro Station. Similar requests have also been made to other police stations under whose jurisdiction various Metro stations fall, seeking adequate protection from February 9 to February 11.
According to BMRCL, protests could lead to overcrowding, obstruction of passenger movement, and potential harm to station infrastructure. Officials said that preventive security measures are essential to avoid any untoward incidents during peak hours.
Police sources confirmed that arrangements are being reviewed and necessary deployment will be planned to maintain law and order at Metro stations. Commuters have been advised to cooperate with security personnel and follow official instructions during this period.
