Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai slams Bengaluru’s “notorious traffic” after being stuck for an hour and nearly missing his Delhi flight.
Bengaluru’s chronic traffic woes disrupted yet another crucial schedule, this time affecting Samajwadi Party MP Rajeev Rai, who found himself stranded on the city’s congested roads just hours before his flight to Delhi for the Winter Session of Parliament. The MP, representing Ghosi in Uttar Pradesh, was stuck for nearly an hour on Rajkumar Samadhi Road, leaving him fearing that he would miss his scheduled departure.

According to the MP’s account, multiple attempts were made to reach Bengaluru’s traffic control room in hopes of getting assistance. However, none of the calls reportedly went through, prompting him to publicly express frustration over what he described as an absence of traffic personnel on the ground during severe congestion.
Hon’ble @CMofKarnataka I m sorry but you have the worst traffic management, and most irresponsible, useless traffic police. They don’t even pick up phone calls, here is the SS of my attempt to speak to them , none of them picked up my call. Last one hour we are stuck at same… pic.twitter.com/GlWjJ4RgKH

The MP took to social media to voice his disappointment, criticising Karnataka’s traffic management and stating that the gridlock had tarnished the city’s image. He shared screenshots of the unanswered calls and remarked that the city had earned a reputation for “notorious traffic,” further alleging that inefficient handling by officers was damaging Bengaluru’s charm. The post quickly drew attention online as traffic continues to be one of the city’s most persistent civic concerns.
Recognised globally as one of the world’s slowest cities for traffic movement, Bengaluru frequently records long delays, high commute times and unpredictable congestion. The latest incident adds to a growing list of complaints from citizens, commuters, and industry leaders who have repeatedly highlighted the impact of poor traffic flow on productivity and daily life.
The city’s traffic situation was also spotlighted recently when astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla humorously remarked during a public event that travelling in space was far easier than navigating Bengaluru’s roads, a comment that resonated widely among residents familiar with the gridlock.
