A major safety scare gripped Koramangala’s Jakkasandra area after a four-storey residential building tilted dangerously, exposing yet another case of illegal construction in Bengaluru.
The structure, owned by Yellappa, was built on a 20x30 site without an approved building plan. According to officials, the building was raised to four floors in violation of norms, creating structural instability. The incident unfolded within the jurisdiction of the Madiwala Police Station, where alarmed residents flagged the risk.

Acting swiftly, police evacuated tenants from the rental units before disaster could strike. The building, already leaning to one side, was declared unsafe. Soon after, police teams, supported by earthmovers, began the demolition process with JCBs to prevent a collapse that could endanger lives and nearby properties.
Investigations revealed that the construction lacked proper planning and approvals. Police are now preparing to register a case against the owner for flouting building norms and endangering public safety.
