  • New Hebbal loop work is in final phase
  • Two girders pending; 15-day deadline issued
  • Expected to reduce traffic near Airport Road junction

The Bengaluru traffic network is set for a major relief as the new loop near Hebbal reaches its final stage, promising smoother travel for Airport Road commuters within days.

Bengaluru’s busy Airport Road corridor is expected to see a major improvement in vehicle movement as the long-awaited loop near Hebbal moves close to completion. The upgrade, taken up to reduce the persistent congestion around the crucial junction, is now in its final stage with only the installation of two remaining girders pending.

As per reports, the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has asked Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) engineers to finish the remaining work within the next 15 days, pushing for a swift opening of the new structure. This comes after the earlier flyover works on the KR Puram-Mekhri Circle stretch were completed, enabling smoother movement from KR Puram towards the central parts of the city.

The latest loop will allow motorists travelling from Esteem Mall to move seamlessly towards Mekhri Circle and Vidhana Soudha via the service road, significantly reducing the pressure on existing lanes. With the earlier sections already thrown open, this new connection is expected to complete the traffic-flow restructuring around Hebbal.

Officials have highlighted that the completion of this loop is a crucial step in achieving the long-promised goal of creating a traffic-free Hebbal zone, especially for the large volume of commuters travelling to and from the airport.
