The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has officially created new wards across its five new corporations, recognizing the legacies of eminent personalities and achievers from various fields. This move aims to honor the contributions of icons in the arts, politics, cinema, literature, and history. The authority’s gazette notification, issued yesterday, marks the creation of 368 wards, each named after notable individuals whose impact has shaped both Karnataka and the nation.

A Tribute to Icons of Karnataka and India
Among the most prominent names honored are film legend Dr. Rajkumar and his son, Puneeth Rajkumar, both of whom have earned a lasting place in the hearts of millions. In addition to them, the newly created wards also carry the names of other revered figures such as Mysore Maharaja Nalvadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar, freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose, and the iconic Kittur Rani Chennamma.
Notably, several wards are named in honor of historical figures, including Bangalore’s founder Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, and celebrated writers like Varakavi Bendre. The new names serve as a reminder of the rich cultural and historical heritage of the city and the state.
