  • Parks and lakes closed from 6 pm on December 31
  • Order issued by West Zone Additional Commissioner Daljit Kumar
  • Decision taken to prevent overcrowding and ensure safety

To prevent crowding and ensure public safety during New Year celebrations, the West Zone City Corporation has ordered temporary closure of all parks and lakes from Wednesday evening.

As part of precautionary measures ahead of New Year celebrations, public entry to all parks and lakes under the City Corporation has been temporarily restricted from the evening of December 31, 2025. The decision has been taken to avoid overcrowding and prevent any untoward incidents during the year-end celebrations.

The order has been issued by Daljit Kumar, Additional Commissioner for Development of the West City Corporation. According to the directive, public access to all corporation-owned parks and lakes will be prohibited from 6:00 pm onwards on Wednesday, December 31, 2025.

Authorities have noted that December 31, being the final day of the year, usually witnesses large gatherings of people at public places. Such crowding increases the risk of accidents, disturbances, and potential breaches of public peace. To ensure safety and maintain law and order, the administration has decided to impose these restrictions as a preventive step.

The order clearly states that the restriction applies to all parks and lakes under the corporation’s jurisdiction without exception. Officials have also been instructed to install clear notice boards at all entry points to inform the public about the temporary closure.

In addition, coordination with the police department has been directed to ensure smooth enforcement of the order. Police support will be used wherever necessary to prevent violations and manage public movement around these locations.
