Kempegowda International Airport witnesses massive flight disruptions as software and weather-related issues trigger cancellations, delays, and passenger inconvenience.
Flight operations at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport were severely impacted from late Monday night through Wednesday, with more than 70 flights experiencing disruptions. A combination of technical issues and weather-related challenges has slowed down aircraft movement across multiple routes.
According to airport and airline sources, at least 22 scheduled flights were cancelled, while over 50 services were delayed. Several departures to major cities, including Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Dehradun, Varanasi, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chennai and Bhopal, were affected through the day.

Preliminary assessments indicate that radar and related onboard software upgrades contributed to the operational slowdown. Additionally, changing weather conditions further pushed back flight timings, worsening congestion on the tarmac and at arrival gates.
The cascading delays left passengers waiting for long hours despite arriving on time for their flights. Many travellers reported uncertainty over revised schedules and difficulty securing alternative travel options.

With airlines still working to stabilise operations, delays may continue today too, and some flights are expected to be rescheduled as checks on aircraft systems progress.
Airport authorities have advised passengers to track airline updates closely before heading to the terminal.
