New pay-and-park system to roll out across the city, with strict towing action and penalties for vehicles parked outside marked zones.
Bengaluru motorists have been warned to be alert as a new pay parking system is set to come into force across the city in phases starting next week. Civic authorities have identified specific road stretches where paid parking will be allowed, while unauthorised parking will lead to towing and financial penalties.
Under the new system, parking will be permitted only on roads officially marked by the civic bodies. Vehicles parked on these designated road sides will be charged on an hourly basis. The parking fee has been fixed at ₹30 per hour for cars and ₹15 per hour for two-wheelers.
Parking vehicles outside these identified zones will attract strict enforcement action. Vehicles found parked indiscriminately or obstructing traffic will be towed away by civic body towing vehicles. For cars, the towing penalty has been fixed at ₹1,000, while two-wheelers will attract a towing fine of ₹500.

In addition to the towing charge, vehicle owners will also have to pay a separate fine imposed by traffic police, making violations costly for commuters. Authorities have made it clear that towing penalties and traffic fines are independent of each other and both must be paid.
The new parking rules will first be implemented in the Bengaluru North civic zone starting next week. By the end of January, the pay parking system is expected to be expanded across all parts of the city.
The civic administration has stated that the objective of the system is to regulate roadside parking, reduce congestion, and improve traffic flow on busy city roads. Motorists have been advised to check designated parking zones carefully and avoid parking on non-marked roads to prevent towing and penalties
With enforcement set to tighten, residents are urged to follow the new parking norms and plan their parking accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
