With land acquisition crossing 50%, BBC Ltd plans phased tenders for the Bengaluru Business Corridor, starting with the Tumakuru Road-Ballari Road section to ease traffic congestion.
The Bengaluru Business Corridor Ltd. (BBC Ltd), the special purpose company set up under the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) to implement the Bengaluru Business Corridor project, has decided to execute the massive road project in multiple packages, based on land availability.
Earlier known as the Peripheral Ring Road, the project aims to improve east-west and north-south connectivity across Bengaluru while reducing pressure on major arterial roads. BBC Ltd has resolved to issue tenders for individual road stretches once 80% of the required land is secured.
Significant progress has been made on the Tumakuru Road–Ballari Road section, paving the way for the first set of tenders. This 23-kilometre stretch is likely to be tendered in March, marking a key milestone in the project’s implementation.

The proposed road will originate near the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) at Madavara and extend up to Venkatala, where it will intersect Ballari Road close to the upcoming metro station on the airport metro corridor near Collins Aerospace Park.
Officials said this new link road, though developed in phases, will play a crucial role in easing traffic congestion on the busy International Airport Road and Tumakuru Road. It is also expected to reduce bottlenecks at the heavily congested Hebbal junction by offering a direct alternate route between Tumakuru Road and Ballari Road. The stretch will be a tolled facility.
Confirming the phased approach, BBC Ltd chairman L. K. Atheeq stated that tenders will be issued package-wise, and construction work will begin once 80% of the land for each stretch is secured.
For the 23-km Tumakuru Road–Ballari Road segment, a total of 576 acres and 38 guntas of land is required. So far, BDA has taken possession of 308 acres, including government-owned land, achieving over 50% of the land acquisition target.
Authorities are optimistic that the remaining land acquisition process will be completed soon, enabling faster project execution. Once completed, the Bengaluru Business Corridor is expected to significantly transform urban mobility and decongest major traffic corridors across the city.
