Police intensify investigation after actor Dhanveer reportedly named Vijayalakshmi during questioning on how the controversial jail video leaked.
The investigation into the widely circulated video allegedly showing “VIP treatment” for select inmates inside the Parappana Agrahara jail has entered a sharper phase, with police expanding the inquiry to those who may have handled the video before it leaked online.
According to sources, Darshan’s aide and actor Dhanveer, who was recently questioned for the second time, reportedly told investigators that he had forwarded the video to Vijayalakshmi, wife of actor Darshan. He is said to have explained that the clip reached him through a lawyer, and that he merely shared it with her. He has denied being responsible for making the video public, telling police he has “no idea” how it went viral.

Following this statement, senior officers have directed that Vijayalakshmi may also be called in for questioning to clarify her role and understand the chain of circulation. Officials have indicated that if Dhanveer had not disclosed this link, both individuals would have been summoned regardless, as the leakage trail remains unclear.
Parallelly, investigators are working to identify the social media accounts that first uploaded the footage. A formal communication has been sent to Meta seeking data related to the handles involved in posting the video.
Police have already questioned the inmates who were allegedly seen in the clip. The video is believed to have been recorded before 2023, when jail officials conducted a raid and seized multiple mobile phones. Despite that seizure, officers are still trying to establish how the footage resurfaced now and spread widely online. During questioning, the inmate who purportedly recorded the video is said to have confirmed certain details about its origin.
