Greater Bengaluru Authority unveils multi-agency plan to decongest Outer Ring Road and Sarjapur corridor with road repairs, bus extensions, and pedestrian upgrades.
Bengaluru’s notorious traffic bottleneck along the Sarjapur Road and Outer Ring Road corridor is set to see relief, with the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) rolling out a comprehensive decongestion plan.
At a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao, officials from BBMP, BMTC, BMRCL, ORRCA, WRI India, and representatives from major tech parks reviewed proposals to ease movement in the region.
Key measures include the “Suraksha 75” project at Iblur Junction and the extension of the existing skywalk to improve pedestrian safety. In the South Zone, roads such as Harlur and Kaikondrahalli will be repaired and encroachments cleared to ensure smoother traffic flow, while access to bus stops in the ORR area will also be improved.

Medium-term measures include the redevelopment of Sarjapur Road, construction of secondary road networks, improvement of junctions, and streamlining of carriageways to handle growing traffic volumes.
