Festival demand ahead of Shivaratri leads to a sharp jump in flower and fruit prices across city markets compared to last week.
With Shivaratri being celebrated tomorrow, flower and fruit prices in Bengaluru markets have recorded a noticeable rise. Compared to last week, rates have increased across almost all major varieties due to heavy festive demand and increased buying by devotees.
Traders say demand for puja essentials has gone up sharply, leading to limited supply and higher prices. Popular flowers used for worship have seen the steepest jump.
Current Flower Prices vs Last Week (per kg unless mentioned):
• Chrysanthemum (Sevanthi): ₹250 - earlier ₹200
• Rose (Gulabi): ₹200 - earlier ₹150
• Jasmine (Mallige): ₹1,400 - earlier ₹600
• Kanakambara: ₹800 - earlier ₹500
• Button Flower (Chendu): ₹60 - earlier ₹40
• Sugandharaja: ₹120 - earlier ₹60
• Lotus (per flower): ₹40 - earlier ₹25
• Cucumber (Kakada): ₹400 - earlier ₹300
