CM Siddaramaiah appeals to Wipro Chairman Azim Premji to open campus roads near Iblur, a move experts say could ease Bengaluru’s notorious ORR congestion by nearly 30%.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written to Wipro founder-chairman Azim Premji, seeking the IT major’s support in easing Bengaluru’s traffic woes. In his letter dated September 19, Siddaramaiah urged Wipro to consider allowing limited vehicular movement through its Iblur campus, under mutually agreed terms and security protocols.
“Preliminary assessments by traffic and urban mobility experts suggest that opening the campus for controlled traffic flow could reduce congestion along the Outer Ring Road (ORR) corridor by nearly 30%, especially during peak office hours,” the CM wrote.
The move comes amid rising public anger over Bengaluru’s traffic gridlock, which has worsened with a 45% spike in ORR weekday traffic this June compared to last year. BlackBuck CEO Rajesh Yabaji’s viral post on ORR’s poor state triggered high-level inspections, resident protests, and emergency meetings led by the CM.

Siddaramaiah called the situation “critical” and appealed to Wipro to engage with government officials quickly to work out a solution. If accepted, this collaboration could significantly enhance mobility and make India’s tech capital more efficient and livable.
