A disturbing case highlighting the dangers of online friendships has come to light in Bengaluru, where a woman allegedly faced severe harassment and threats from a man she met through social media, pushing her to attempt suicide.
According to the complaint, the woman became acquainted with Paritosh Yadav through a social networking platform during a difficult phase in her life. Her daughter had suffered injuries due to a gas cylinder explosion, and she urgently needed money for medical treatment. During this time, Paritosh Yadav offered help, lending her ₹30,000.

However, the assistance soon allegedly turned into harassment. Using the loan as leverage, the accused reportedly pressured the woman to physically cooperate with him. When she refused, the harassment escalated. The woman allegedly received daily messages, including obscene texts and explicit videos.
The complaint states that the accused threatened to upload her details on pornographic websites and share her phone number with prostitution rackets if she did not comply with his demands. These repeated threats and messages caused extreme mental distress.
As the harassment continued, the matter came to the attention of the woman’s husband, leading to serious marital disputes. Unable to cope with the pressure and humiliation, the woman left her husband’s house and went to stay at a friend’s place. Overwhelmed by trauma and fear, she later attempted suicide.
Following the incident, a formal complaint was lodged at the Rajagopal Nagar Police Station, detailing the harassment, blackmail, and threats allegedly carried out by Paritosh Yadav. Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.
