South Western Railway becomes the first zone in India to launch the MUTS Sahayak ticketing system at KSR Bengaluru, offering quicker, queue-free unreserved ticket booking for passengers.
In a major move to simplify and speed up the ticketing process, the South Western Railway (SWR) has launched the MUTS Sahayak ticketing system at Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) Bengaluru railway station. With this, the SWR becomes the first railway zone in India to introduce this system.
The initiative follows a directive from the Railway Board, which selected five NSG-1 category stations across the country for the pilot implementation of the scheme. KSR Bengaluru is the first among them to roll it out successfully.

Under this new system, MUTS Sahayaks (mobile ticketing assistants) use handheld devices to issue unreserved tickets to passengers. This new facility offers an alternative to traditional booking counters and reduces long queues, particularly during rush hours.
Passengers can now buy tickets directly from these mobile Sahayaks within the station premises, saving time and avoiding crowding at counters. SWR officials said the initiative aims to make railway ticketing faster, more convenient, and accessible for all passengers.
According to SWR, the system will also help railway staff manage peak-hour crowds more effectively and improve the overall passenger experience at Bengaluru’s busiest station.

The MUTS Sahayak ticketing scheme is expected to be expanded to other major stations across India after assessing the success of this pilot phase at KSR Bengaluru.
