A heated dispute between a tenant and house owner in Vidyaranyapura reaches the police, with both sides accusing each other of harassment, abuse and false complaints.
A serious dispute between a tenant and a house owner in Vidyaranyapura, Bengaluru, has escalated into police complaints, with both sides levelling strong allegations against each other.
The tenant, Madhu, has filed a complaint at the Vidyaranyapura Police Station, accusing house owner Venkatesh and his family of harassment, intimidation, and theft. According to her statement, despite having a two-year lease agreement, she was allegedly pressured continuously to vacate the house.
Madhu, who is a real estate entrepreneur and a YouTube anchor, had taken a 1BHK house on lease about 10 months ago by paying ₹2.5 lakh. She claims that later, the house owner and his wife repeatedly demanded money on interest. She initially lent them ₹2 lakh, which was later returned. However, the couple allegedly began demanding more money, leading to repeated arguments.

Madhu stated that when she refused to lend further amounts based only on cheque assurance, harassment began. She alleged that water supply was deliberately stopped, the gate was forcibly closed while she was inside, and she was verbally abused regularly. She also claimed that legal notices were sent to pressurise her to vacate the house.
The tenant further alleged that on the 11th of this month, seven people came to her house, threatened her, forcibly entered the premises, snatched her mobile phone, and stole ₹2 lakh in cash and 7 grams of gold ornaments. She stated that her household items were also thrown outside during this incident.
On the other hand, house owner Venkatesh has strongly denied the allegations and accused Madhu of mentally harassing him and his family. He claimed that Madhu abuses them daily using offensive language, creates unnecessary conflicts, and files false complaints to damage their reputation.
Police have registered the complaint and started an investigation to verify the claims made by both parties.
