SIT probes the 2:45 pm call that reportedly changed industrialist CJ Roy’s mood moments before he died by suicide, as police piece together crucial last-hour details.
The suicide of Confident Group owner CJ Roy has taken a dramatic turn, with investigators now focusing on a single phone call that reportedly changed his emotional state moments before his death. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) believes this call could hold crucial clues in understanding what pushed Roy to take the extreme step.
On the day of the incident, CJ Roy arrived at his Langford Road office in Bengaluru along with his manager, Joseph. He had come to the office in connection with recent Income Tax department raids. According to the manager’s statement, Roy was calm and composed during the car journey and appeared completely normal.
However, as they were nearing the office, Roy received a phone call at around 2:45 pm. The call was received in the presence of manager Joseph. Immediately after the call ended, Roy’s mood reportedly changed completely. His eyes welled up, and he appeared emotionally shaken. Witnesses say he struggled to speak and looked deeply disturbed.

Manager Joseph told police that Roy became silent and withdrawn, with tears in his eyes. Sensing something was wrong, Joseph tried to distract him and change the topic to ease his distress. Despite the effort, Roy remained unsettled.
Shortly after reaching the office, CJ Roy entered the premises and, within a short time, died by suicide using a firearm. This sequence of events has led investigators to believe that the call may have played a critical role in triggering the tragic outcome.
The SIT is now working to identify who made the call, what exactly was discussed, and whether it had any direct connection to Roy’s decision. Investigators are also probing whether the call was a regular phone call, an internet-based call, or a WhatsApp call.
Police have confirmed that they are analysing call detail records, device data, and communication logs to trace the origin and nature of the call. Officials believe that reconstructing the conversation could be key to understanding the mental state of CJ Roy in his final moments.
At present, the mysterious 2:45 pm call remains the central focus of the investigation, as authorities attempt to piece together the final hours leading up to the shocking incident.
