A huge fire broke out at a mattress manufacturing warehouse in Anjanapura early morning, forcing apartment evacuations, destroying five vehicles, and triggering public anger over commercial operations in residential zones.
Bengaluru witnessed another major fire accident on Sunday morning after a massive blaze broke out at a large mattress manufacturing warehouse in Anjanapura, creating panic among residents and causing extensive property damage. The fire was reported around 7:45 am, quickly spreading due to the highly inflammable materials stored inside the godown.
According to officials and local residents, the warehouse was stocked with large quantities of mattresses and pillows, which caused the flames to intensify rapidly. Thick black smoke engulfed the surrounding areas, making breathing difficult for residents nearby. The dense smoke cloud forced authorities to evacuate nearby buildings and divert traffic to ensure public safety.

The warehouse is located in a residential zone, leading to widespread anger among locals who questioned how commercial activities were permitted in such areas. Two apartment complexes situated right next to the warehouse, one with 178 flats and the other with 158 flats, were evacuated as a precautionary measure. Residents expressed serious concerns over safety lapses and regulatory failures.
During the incident, a Kerala-registered lorry parked in front of the warehouse caught fire. Along with it, five parked vehicles were completely burnt and reduced to ashes. Fire department teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving the alert and began operations to contain the blaze. Traffic on surrounding roads was diverted to facilitate emergency movement.
Local resident Sudarshan said that the fire was reported to the fire department immediately after it was noticed. However, the exact cause of the fire is still unknown, and authorities have launched an investigation.

This incident marks the third major fire accident in Bengaluru within four days, raising serious concerns over fire safety standards in commercial and residential structures.
Earlier, Kumbarapete witnessed a fire mishap, followed by another blaze on Saturday at SV Cake Palace bakery in Dasarahalli’s Bhuvaneshwari Nagar, where a short circuit reportedly triggered the fire. The bakery, run by Krishna for the past six years, suffered heavy losses as food items, beverages, and furniture were completely destroyed.
Authorities are now under pressure to review fire safety compliance across commercial units operating in residential zones to prevent further tragedies.
