Deputy CM DK Shivakumar defends Bengaluru’s tunnel road project, telling BJP leaders to stop criticism and give solutions instead, calling it a plan for the city’s future.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has hit out strongly at the BJP for opposing Bengaluru’s tunnel road project, insisting that the plan was created purely for the city’s people and not for any personal interest.

Taking to social media, Shivakumar stated, “This is not my property; it’s a project for the people. Let the BJP stop its criticism and tell me what their solution is.” His remark came as the opposition party launched a signature campaign against the ambitious project, questioning its feasibility and environmental impact.

The Deputy CM defended the project as a crucial step toward solving Bengaluru’s worsening traffic congestion, saying it was conceived “for the city’s future.” He asserted that while criticism is easy, constructive suggestions are what the government needs from the opposition.

In a sharp counter, Shivakumar added, “If they can hold a signature campaign, I can do the same, and organize a bigger one. I know how to mobilize people better than them.”

The proposed tunnel road project has sparked political debate, with the BJP accusing the government of pushing it without adequate consultation. However, Shivakumar maintained that the initiative reflects a long-term urban development vision and will help ease traffic for lakhs of commuters.
