According to reports, the avalanche occurred when a group of international and Nepali climbers was ascending the peak, located at an altitude of about 6,332 metres. Witnesses said the snow came rushing down with immense force, leaving the climbers with no time to escape.

Additionally, five other climbers were injured in the avalanche and have been airlifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. Search and rescue operations are still underway to locate any missing individuals, but the efforts have been slowed down by heavy snowfall and unstable weather in the region.

The Yalung Base Camp area, known for its scenic but treacherous routes, has always been a challenging climb, especially during unpredictable weather. Experts say that rapidly changing weather patterns and melting snow layers have made avalanches more frequent in recent years.
