A Bengaluru–Hyderabad Jabbar Travels bus overturned after crashing into an Eicher vehicle near Damaji village in Sri Sathya Sai district, leaving one dead and nine seriously injured.

A tragic road accident occurred in Andhra Pradesh’s Sri Sathya Sai district late on Monday night, just hours after Telangana witnessed a deadly bus crash. Around 2 a.m., a private Jabbar Travels bus travelling from Bengaluru to Hyderabad met with a horrific accident on National Highway 44 near Damaji village, under Chennekothapalli panchayat limits.

According to police, the bus rammed into an Eicher goods vehicle at high speed, causing the bus to lose balance and overturn on the highway. The impact was so severe that the bus was left mangled, trapping several passengers inside.

Preliminary reports indicate that one person lost his life on the spot, while nine others sustained serious injuries. The injured passengers were immediately rescued by locals and police teams who rushed to the site soon after receiving information. All the injured were shifted to a nearby government hospital for emergency treatment.

Officials said the accident occurred during the early hours when visibility was low and most passengers were asleep. The cause of the accident is yet to be officially confirmed, but initial investigation points to rash driving or fatigue as possible reasons.

Police have registered a case and launched a probe into the incident. The wreckage of the bus and Eicher vehicle has been cleared to restore traffic movement on NH-44.

This mishap comes barely a day after a bus–lorry collision in Telangana claimed 21 lives, once again highlighting the growing concern over road safety on national highways connecting major southern cities.
