A tragic road accident near Chevella in Ranga Reddy district claimed 24 lives after a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus collided head-on with a speeding truck early Monday morning.

A devastating road accident occurred early this morning near Mirzaguda village in Chevella, located in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district, leaving 24 people dead and several others injured. The collision involved a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) bus and a truck that was reportedly traveling at high speed on the wrong side of the road.

The TSRTC bus was carrying around 70 passengers when the accident took place at around 6 AM. According to initial reports, the truck was heading from Tandur to Hyderabad and lost control before crashing head-on into the bus. The impact was so severe that both vehicles were completely mangled, trapping several passengers inside.

Local authorities and rescue teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the information. So far, 11 women, 10 men, and two children, including a one-year-old baby,  have been confirmed dead. Both the bus and truck drivers were among those who died on the spot. Officials fear that the death toll may rise further, as several passengers have sustained critical injuries.

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident. He conveyed condolences to the families of the victims and directed district officials to ensure that rescue operations are carried out swiftly and the injured receive proper medical treatment at nearby hospitals.

Visuals from the site show the bus and truck severely damaged, with rescue personnel using heavy machinery to extract bodies and survivors from the wreckage.

Preliminary findings suggest rash driving and speeding on the wrong side by the truck driver as the primary reasons behind the accident.
