In a shocking incident at Neelasandra’s Bazaar Street, three workers lost consciousness inside a manhole due to toxic gas while cleaning without safety gear. Swift action by locals saved their lives.

A major accident was averted in Neelasandra, Bengaluru, on Friday morning after three workers who entered a manhole without safety equipment lost consciousness due to toxic gas fumes.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 11 AM near Bazaar Street in Neelasandra. The workers were reportedly cleaning a blocked manhole when one of them suddenly collapsed after inhaling poisonous gases. Seeing him fall, a second worker entered the manhole to rescue him but also lost consciousness moments later. A third man climbed down using a rope in an attempt to save both of them.

Realising the danger, nearby residents quickly intervened. With remarkable presence of mind, locals tied ropes and pulled the three men out of the manhole. The unconscious workers were immediately taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Doctors confirmed that all three had suffered from gas inhalation, but thanks to the quick response from the locals, their lives were saved.
