A leopard was spotted late Sunday night near a roadside temple close to a major hill destination, raising safety concerns as sightings increase across the taluk.

Panic spread among visitors after a leopard was spotted near a busy road close to a well-known hill tourism zone. The big cat was seen late on Sunday night near the Basavanna Temple located in the valley area close to Nandigiridhama, causing concern among tourists heading towards the hill destination.

According to local sources, the leopard appeared near the roadside, alarming both motorists and visitors travelling to the area. The sighting has raised fresh fears as the region attracts a large number of tourists, especially during weekends.

Forest officials and locals say that leopard sightings have increased significantly in Chikkaballapur taluk in recent times. Residents report that leopards are being seen almost every day in one area or another, indicating a rise in their population and movement closer to human habitations.

The latest incident has added to existing worries, particularly for tourists who visit the hill region during early morning and late-night hours. Though no attack or injury has been reported so far, the presence of a leopard near a road and a place of worship has heightened anxiety.
