The disciplinary action followed a viral social media post by former BPCL Chief Financial Officer (CFO) K Sivakumar, who shared a distressing account of the corruption and harassment he faced after the death of his 34-year-old daughter last month.

According to Sivakumar, the two Bellandur policemen demanded ₹5,000 while handing over his daughter’s autopsy report. The shocking revelation led to a wave of public anger online, forcing the city police to take swift action.

Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh confirmed the suspensions and said that the department will not tolerate such misconduct, especially in cases involving grieving families.

Sivakumar’s emotional social media post, titled “I Paid Them All”, has since gone viral, drawing nationwide attention. In his post, the retired officer detailed how he was allegedly asked for bribes at every stage following his daughter’s death, from police, ambulance staff, hospital workers, crematorium employees, to civic officials.

Sivakumar alleged that:

•    Bellandur Police demanded money to file the FIR and release the post-mortem report.
•    The ambulance driver asked for ₹5,000 to transport his daughter’s body.
•    Hospital staff allegedly sought payment to issue reports.
•    Crematorium workers demanded money to perform the funeral rites.
•    Even BBMP officials reportedly asked for a bribe to issue the death certificate.
