Pink and Blue Lines set to begin phased operations this year, offering major relief to commuters battling traffic congestion in the city
Bengaluru’s growing traffic woes are set to ease as Namma Metro prepares to add two major corridors to its expanding network in 2026. In addition to the operational Green, Purple and Yellow Lines, metro services will begin on the Pink Line and Blue Line in a phased manner by the end of the year.
According to official timelines, commercial operations on both new routes are scheduled before the close of 2026. The first phase of the Pink Line is expected to open in May, while the initial stretch of the Blue Line is planned to be operational by December.

The Pink Line will connect Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara, covering a total distance of 21.25 kilometres. Of this, the elevated section from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere will be the first to open. This 7.5-kilometre stretch includes six elevated metro stations and is targeted for launch in May. The remaining underground section from Tavarekere to Nagawara, comprising 12 underground stations, is scheduled to begin operations by November. Notably, the Pink Line will feature driverless metro trains, with one such train already supplied by BEML.
Meanwhile, the Blue Line will link Silk Board Junction with KR Puram in its first phase. This stretch spans 17.75 kilometres and includes 13 stations. The full Blue Line will eventually extend to 58.19 kilometres. While the first phase is expected to open by the end of 2026, the second phase is planned for completion and launch in 2027.
