Woman dies by s*uicide after alleged dowry harassment, parents blame husband

A 32-year-old woman from Hegganahalli died after consuming sleeping pills, with her parents alleging dowry harassment by her husband Rajesh and his family. Police have registered a case in Rajagopalanagar station and are investigating the matter.

32-year-old Megha, a resident of Hegganahalli, consumed sleeping pills allegedly after facing dowry harassment from her husband and in-laws.

Bengaluru witnessed yet another tragic case of alleged dowry harassment as a young woman lost her life in Hegganahalli. Megha (32), a homemaker, reportedly consumed sleeping pills at her residence late on Monday night.

According to police, Megha was found unconscious and rushed to a nearby hospital by neighbors and relatives. Despite efforts by doctors, she could not be saved. Megha, who had married Rajesh four years ago in a love marriage, leaves behind an 11-month-old baby.

Her grief-stricken parents have accused Rajesh and his family of subjecting their daughter to relentless dowry harassment, which they claim drove her to take the extreme step.

The Rajagopalanagar Police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and the Dowry Prohibition Act. Investigations are underway, and police are likely to question Rajesh and his family soon.
