At the Bharat Shakti exercise in Pokhran, which the Prime Minister took part in, he underlined India’s increasing self-reliance in defence.

He highlighted India’s achievements in developing its own fighter aircraft, constructing aircraft carriers domestically, and initiating the production of C295 transport aircraft and modern engines within the country. Additionally, he announced plans for India to design, develop, and manufacture fifth-generation fighter aircraft domestically.

The Prime Minister also underscored the nation’s self-reliance and pride, echoing the sentiment of ‘Bharat Shakti’. He credited the success of the Make in India initiative, citing advancements in arms, ammunition, communication equipment, cyber technology, and space exploration. Furthermore, he commended Indian pilots for operating domestically manufactured aircraft such as Tejas, advanced light helicopters, and light combat helicopters.

The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s efforts over the past decade to bolster self-sufficiency in the defence sector through policy reforms and support for MSME startups.
