Modi sits with senior leaders, finalises list of 100 candidates

Even before the Lok Sabha election dates are to be announced, the BJP has finalised a list of 100 candidates.
Reports suggest that Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself at the helm of affairs, as he sat with other senior leaders like BJP chief JP Nadda, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, in a late night meeting, starting at 10: 30 and lasting four hours.
It is learnt that incumbent Rajya Sabha members – Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Minister Sarbanand Sonowal, Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, and Union Minister of State (MoS) V Muraleedharan.
The PM also spent a lot of time focussing on what’s perceived to be ‘weak seats’. In these seats, the BJP lost by smaller margins in the last Lok Sabha elections.
The seats that the top brass discussed come under Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Assam, Kerala and Telangana, among others.
As per the list, high profile candidates such as PM Modi himself will contest from Varanasi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah from Gujarat’s Gandhinagar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh from Lucknow.
The list will be announced in the next few days.
