BMTC has heightened its vigilance following the disappearance of 12-year-old Parinav, prompting the transportation authority to closely monitor individuals leaving their homes for trivial reasons and traveling on buses.

This initiative is a response to the incident involving Parinav, the son of Vijayanagar residents Sukhesh and Nivedita, who went missing after leaving home over a minor issue, commuting from his tuition class to Majestic via BMTC bus.

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation has issued explicit instructions to drivers and conductors to keep a vigilant eye on unaccompanied minors using their services.

Speaking to NewsFirst Prime, Kala Krishnaswamy, the Director of Security and Vigilance at BMTC, said “to address any uncertainties regarding the behavior of such minors, the BMTC has mandated the reporting of suspicious cases to the child helpline.” She also emphasized the importance of this measure and urged staff to promptly contact the child helpline at 1098 in case of any concerns, even advocating for the involvement of the nearest police station if necessary. She further underscored the significance of the staff’s role in promptly responding to any potential threats to the well-being of minors.

This proactive approach by BMTC signifies a crucial step in ensuring the safety of unaccompanied minors traveling on their buses. It is reassuring that BMTC is taking swift and comprehensive action to address such concerns, demonstrating a commitment to safeguarding the welfare of children in transit.
