As per reports, trying or draping sarees tightly can lead to cancer. Prolonged periods of wearing them tightly can cause discomfort, irritate the skin, cause itchiness, redness of the skin, ulcer too and finally, cause cancer.

Generally, it is the waistline that is a sitting duck.

Risk not related to saree alone

It is to be noted that such inclinations to cancer are not limited to sarees alone. Tying dhotis tightly too can be equally dangerous. At the same time, such a phenomenon can occur anywhere in the body where the skin is targeted by tight clothes.

Preventive measures

Doctors suggest that any tight clothing that pressurises the skin has to be renounced. If the symptoms are good enough to draw you attention, take remedial measures and don’t aggravate the injuries.

The silver lining

Doctors note that though tightness is a contributing factor, the total number of recorded cancers owing to this are not even 0.2 percent of the total cancers.
