Karnataka CM spells out 'injustice' to Karnataka

The CM also invited people of other parties to join protest

CM also asserted state BJP leaders don't know the facts

Addressing a press conference over Centre’s alleged ‘step-motherly’ attitude towards Karnataka, CM Siddaramaiah blamed Narendra Modi for not releasing funds earlier too, during drought and floods in 2019.

He went on to state that BJP CMs like BS Yediyurappa and Basavaraj Bommai too sought funds from the Centre, but Modi didn’t answer in the affirmative.

Lamenting that as many as 25 Karnataka BJP MLAs are not questioning Modi, Siddarmaiah also wondered why Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who also represents Karnataka in Rajya Sabha, has done little to help Karnataka improve financially.

Extending an invite to members from other parties too for the protest to be held in Delhi on February 7, CM Siddaramaiah stressed it is against the injustice meted out to the state. He added that if the protest is not held, it will be humiliating to the needs and aspirations of Kannadigas.

‘BJP members don’t know’

While holding the Centre responsible for lack of funds for Karnataka, the CM also emphasised that BJP leaders like R Ashoka, also the leader of opposition, do not have pertinent information at hand.

He added that everyone, irrespective of their political affiliations, should condemn the Centre’s move unifiedly, keeping in mind Karnataka’s interests.
