The hearing of the case is underway in the Kanchipuram labour court

The woman had received an A-band during quarterly appraisal

Trade unions are demanding her reinstatement

A woman working with the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) had filed a sexual harassment case, the hearing for which is underway in the Kanchipuram labour court. On 12th July she was asked to join a team meeting with regard to a project she was involved in and discharged of her duty pertaining to the project in the meeting.

The woman had been a top performer with the TCS and had received an A-band during the quarterly appraisal of 2023.

The woman has alleged that she was also excluded from calendar invites, groups and distribution lists. This has also affected her health with her blood pressure reaching up to 180.

Trade unions have become involved in the case and have made a demand for her reinstatement. “The series of events that led to her gradual removal from the project and the subsequent progression towards potentially more harmful treatment are essentially uncalled for, especially considering there are no other work-related issues or shortcomings. Degrading or demoting an employee for no tangible reason is in violation of the law,” read the letter from the All India Working Women Forum of AITUC to the TCS delivery head overseeing the ITERGO customer, dated August 24th
