Congress added unwanted things in the constitution: Anantkumar

BJP Karnataka distanced themselves from Anantkumar's statements

Modi should first expel him from the party: Siddaramaiah

Member of Parliament (MP) from Uttara Kannada from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Ananatkumar Hegde has found himself caught in a controversy owing to his statements regarding the nature of the constitution. “Modi had made a statement proclaiming ‘Abki baar 400 paar’ (This time, we’ll cross 400). Why 400? We have a 2/3rd majority in the Lok Sabha. In the Rajya Sabha, we have a simple majority. We do not have the required majority in state governments. In order to correct the constitution which was completely overhauled by the Congress, we need such numbers. The Congress added unwanted things in the constitution. Some of the provisions were designed to oppress the Hindu community,” he said in a video that has now become viral on social media.

Although BJP Karnataka distanced themselves from these statements, the Indian National Congress (INC) did not miss out on the opportunity to attack the party. “Anant Kumar Hegde’s statement about the need for the BJP to secure 400 seats to protect Hinduism by amending the Constitution is not his personal statement but a part of the secret agenda of the BJP. Observing the silent endorsement from senior BJP members and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s apparent support, it’s clear they align with Hegde’s views. If Modi disagrees with Hegde’s opinions, he should first expel him from the party. Failing to act against Hegde suggests the Prime Minister’s implicit agreement. It seems Modi’s public declarations of allegiance to the Constitution are merely superficial,” Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter).
