Christ Academy Institute for Advanced Studies (CAIAS) hosted the much-anticipated Green Run to promote fitness and environmental awareness. The 7-kilometer race, which stretched from the CAIAS campus to Velankani Tech Park in Electronic City Phase I, attracted enthusiastic participation from people of all ages, emphasizing the institute’s commitment to community wellness and sustainability.

The event began with an opening address by Fr. Sebi Palamattath CMI, Director of Christ Academy Group of Institutions, followed by a pre-race briefing by Dr. Prashanth BN from Narayana Health. An energetic Zumba warm-up session by Fiesta Fitness energized the participants before the race was officially flagged off at 6:00 AM by Mr. Hanan Delvi, Chief Client Officer of Zerodha and the event’s Run Ambassador.

Support facilities along the route included water stations at Christ Academy, Jelly Machine, Bettadasanapura Masjid, Vittasandra Junction, Pai Showroom, Village Hypermarket, and Velankani Tech Park, as well as health stations at CAIAS, Essar Petrol Pump, and Velankani Tech Park. A key figure behind the success of this event was Fr. Antony Davis, Principal of Christ Academy Institute for Advanced Studies, whose visionary leadership and unwavering support served as the driving force and backbone of the initiative, inspiring everyone involved.

In line with its environmental goals, the event featured a tree plantation ceremony near the Jelly Machine area led by Mr. Siju Daniel, Founder of SCEAD Foundation, and Mr. Santhosh, Forest Officer, South Bangalore. A seed ball-making session at Velankani Tech Park, organized by SCEAD Foundation, further reinforced the focus on sustainability.

The valedictory ceremony at Velankani Tech Park featured speeches by Dr. Praveen P. Sadarmin of Narayana Health and Mr. Hanan Delvi, along with the distribution of prizes. Winners in six categories were awarded cash prizes and medals, including Rajesh S. N., Aradhana, Ayush, Chandana, Nandraj Singh, and Neera Katwal, who secured the first positions in their respective age and gender categories.

Participants were also presented with exclusive T-shirts, finisher medals, and refreshments. A representative from CAIAS commented, “The Green Run is not just about fitness but also about driving change for a sustainable future.”

Equally instrumental in the event's success was the tireless dedication of around 140 student volunteers. Their seamless coordination, enthusiastic efforts, and vibrant energy brought a unique dynamism to the occasion, ensuring every aspect of the event ran with impeccable precision and spirit.

The Green Run 2024 was a blend of fitness, environmental consciousness, and community engagement, leaving participants inspired to adopt sustainable practices. It demonstrated that collective efforts can bring about a significant impact on both personal health and the environment.
