    Elon Musk postpones India visit

He was slated to visit on April 21 and 22

He was also expected to announce big plans

Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s highly anticipated two-day visit to India, during which he was expected to announce plans for Tesla’s entry into the Indian market, has been postponed. Musk, who was scheduled to visit on April 21 and 22 and meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cited “very heavy Tesla obligations” as the reason for the delay. In a post on X, Musk expressed regret, stating, “Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year.”

The postponement comes as Musk reportedly needs to attend a crucial conference call on April 23 in the United States to address questions about Tesla’s first-quarter performance. Musk had previously expressed excitement about the visit, stating on X last week that he was “looking forward” to meeting PM Modi.

During his anticipated visit, Musk was expected to announce a significant investment of $2-3 billion to construct a factory for entry-level cars in India, leveraging the government’s recent policy changes lowering tariffs on imported cars for firms investing locally. Additionally, plans to introduce Starlink, a satellite network offering high-speed internet, were anticipated.

Musk was also set to engage with Indian space tech startups, with the government extending invitations to companies such as Skyroot Aerospace, Dhruva Space, Piersight, and Digantara for discussions with the SpaceX CEO in New Delhi.
